Are you taking your photographer for granted?
Your photographer is your visual creator. The person that will socially bring you to life. The person that will capture a collection of moments that will technically never happen again in real time. I want you guys to remember how much time and effort photographers and retouchers put into their craft. Sometimes our skill set can be overlooked, so i wanted to display some before & after images and briefly touch on what it takes to bring these images to life. No IG filter :).
Catch a great image first, Edit a great image second.
While shooting, I work on catching a great image. The better the original image, the less post production work I have to do. The only thing I look to alter generally are the colors, levels, and removing blemishes. Each scenario varies, but i always work to get exceptional shots prior to editing.
The goal is to make the end result feel alive.
Portrait images require more finesse and detail. The focal point is closer, so all the key elements in the image need attention. Framing, all facial features, EYES (very important), hair, color, accessories and more.
Maybe black & white?
Sometimes black and white is the way to go. How I usually decide is this. Take a look at both images. They both feel different. The black & white image makes you feel different. If I can't picture the image in color then it belongs in black & white.
Take a look around. Photos are everywhere. Commercials , advertising (physically or online), billboards, everywhere. The market will always thrive, but in this day and age this market is over saturated. Everyone with a camera will call themselves a photographer. Even with a smart phone camera you can receive some amazing results, but identify photographers with a certain passion and skill set for their craft. Manipulating light? Composition? Creative edge? Are they taking images of you or creating images of you? These are the ones you want in your corner. Appreciate them. Support them. They're necessary.
